It’s been a long couple of months, but the battle for The Nürburgring still wages on with Nissan claiming victory…again, while Porsche continues to claim smoke and mirror tactics. The German automaker just wrapped up some Ring time with their new 2010 911 GT3 piloted by their seasoned test driver Walter Rohl. The new Porsche clocked in at a time of 7 minutes 40 seconds, still shy of its arch nemesis the GT-R. Nissan has been hard at work around the Ring recently as well, returning with their updated 2010 model year GT-R and even claim to have bested their previous mark of 7:29 with a blistering 7:27.56.
Porsche project manager, Andreas Preuninger is still quick to assert that according to Porsche figures, the GT-R still does no better then the 7:54 time that they set last year using a US spec GT-R.
We’re not sure, but the near 30 second difference between Nissan and Porsche figures for the GT-R does sound a little suspicious to us. Either way both figures are impressive and whatever the case may be, we’re sure this isn’t the last time we’re going to be hearing from these two regarding lap times for these two cars.
