The Porsche Club of South Africa has been in existence for 61 years and each year the annual parade is organised by a regional club, with this year’s event being hosted by Porsche Club Cape.

Taking place in Cape Town from the 23 – 25 October, more than 80 Porsches will be on display. Ranging from a 1960’s Porsche 356 to the latest Porsche Panamera super saloon, the event is set to showcase 50 years of iconic Porsche sports cars. Among those attending will be Toby Venter (MD Porsche Centre South Africa) and some of his fellow competitors from the Altech GT Challenge Series.

The 25th annual Porsche Parade involves three separate events in as many days. Drivers will compete for top honours in time trial and autocross events at Killarney race track, as well as a ’show and shine’ at the NG Church grounds in Franschhoek.

In particular, the show and shine is a favourite for scores of sports car enthusiasts, us included, who have the opportunity, not only to see the cars up close, but also to chat with the proud owners.

A top end run will be taking place at Saldanha Bay on Saturday but will not be open to the public due to safety restrictions. However, we suggest you setup an ‘out of office reply’ for Friday 23rd October and head down to Killarney race track between 8am – 4pm for the time trials and autocross events. Round-off the weekend on Sunday 25th with a drive out to Franschhoek, South Africa’s gourmet capital, and share the tastes, sights and sounds with fellow Porsche and sports car enthusiasts at the show and shine event.

The event has attracted some big name sponsors including Porsche South Africa, Bridgestone Tyres and Mobil 1, amongst others, and will be broadcast on DSTV’s motoring show, Ignition. Take a look at the images below from the 2007 Porsche Parade held in East London.
