New Suzuki Ertiga gains Bluetooth and more

On sale now in South Africa the new Suzuki Ertiga has been given more specification and a new GL model in place of the Ertiga GLX.

The 7-seater Suzuki known for its impractical beige interior and ballooned Suzuki Swift dimensions has been given a slight makeover to enhance the value for money aspect and make it look less like recycled Suzuki parts stretched to accommodate a third row of seating.

Two years after launch and thankfully the good bits remain like Suzuki’s 1.4-litre engine, excellent steering and gearbox. New Suzuki Ertiga attempts to throw in a splash more style to a segment that’s notoriously bland. The new grille and scalloped bumper receives additional chrome (GL model) and the same is mostly true of the rear now featuring integrated reflectors. Folding wing mirrors are standard on GL models.

If that doesn’t persuade you to visit a dealership then interior updates like Bluetooth audio might just. Suzuki Ertiga GL comes with Park Distance Control and additional 12V socket but what we like most is the third row seating can now split 50/50 making the boot easier to load. And if you simply run out of space, Suzuki Ertiga now comes with a 550kg tow rating.

“The Ertiga has attracted a loyal and passionate following, thanks to its MPV-sized cabin and its Swift-like driving dynamics,” says André Venter, divisional manager for sales and marketing at Suzuki Auto South Africa.

“With the new model we have increased the Ertiga’s functionality and appeal even further and look forward to welcoming ever more families to the Suzuki brand.” Suzuki Auto has retained the Ertiga’s generous 4-year / 60 000 km service plan and 3-year / 100 000 km warranty for all models in the range.

Not the most exciting product in the Suzuki range but enough solid core ingredients to serve a particular need.
