Super Rare Ferrari Carries R52-Million Price Tag at Auction

One of six Ferrari Sergio’s will go up for sale at an RM Sotheby’s auction in Monaco this May. The Sergio was created as a tribute to the founder of the Pininfarina design house as well as his late son.

The limited run special edition supercar shares its underpinnings with the Ferrari 458 Spider, but instead of using the same engine as the spider, the Sergio is powered by the beefed-up 4.5-litre V8 from the 458 Speciale. This engine is the most powerful naturally-aspirated motor created by the Italian manufacturer and considering that turbocharging has crept into the 488 GTB, it seems like it always will be.

The Sergio that will be going up for auction at Sotheby and has only 200km  on the clock and was built for a Nigerian businessman who, at the time, would have paid around R35-million for it from the factory. The same model was used to introduce the Sergio to the world at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015.

Accompanying the Sergio in the auction is a bespoke Ferrari 599 GTO which is also expected to fetch a hefty sum of money. This specific model is from Ferrari’s ‘Tailor Made’ division and is understood to be the only of its kind to exist in its configuration. It was sold in 2011 for R8-million.

Completing the Ferrari trifecta is an ultimate-classic – the 1957 Ferrari 250 GT Coupe. This specific model is one of 74 of its kind in the world, powered by its original engine unit and Ferrari Classiche approved.

The final model to go under the hammer is a 2018 CTR3 Clubsport, produced by the notorious Porsche customizing company RUF. The Porsche inspired supercar is powered by a 3.8-litre flat six engine, producing 515kW of power. Aside from the Sergio, the RUF is expected to go for a ridiculous amount of money at the auction in Monaco.
