More detailed pictures (supplied by Porsche) of the updated 2016 Porsche 911 have emerged ahead of the car’s public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Changes to the 991-spec, 911 are fairly comprehensive, affecting the car’s visual design, drivetrain and interior.
Spotted doing hot weather testing around Cape Town earlier this year the latest 911 will see the entire range fitted with turbo charged engines, although the skinny 4-cylinder versions are only likely to debut with the new model in 2018. The emotional impact that will have among the brand’s aristocrats will long be debated but Porsche has compensated the downsizing with a thrilling injection of power.
No official figures are out but capacities under three litres seem certain with outputs starting at 275kW and rising up to 310kW in the Carrera S. Force-fed engines place additional requirements on the styling with larger cooling ducts positioned ahead of the radiators.
The rear bumper is reworked to facilitate more cooling vents, the lights have been revised with LED graphics and Porsche’s latest multimedia system will make the transition from Cayenne to 911. A total of four driving modes will be accessible from the steering wheel.
