Lamborghini To Slow Production
Lamborghini is acknowledging the global economic slowdown. It knows that its cars are used more for pleasure than commuting. So when belts begin to tighten, some of the steam is taken out of the prancing bull.
Lamborghini will shut down its production lines for two weeks between February and March. “We have established a decade of sales and profit increases, including another record year for deliveries in 2008, but we cannot maintain the previous levels of production during the downturn”, CEO Stephan Winkelmann said in a statement.
This news may not be too bad though, because despite this decision, Lamborghini announced it will not be cutting back on research and development. In contrast to its slow down in production, the supercar maker will continue with plans to reveal one new product to market every year. This includes cars like the Estoque sedan and the Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster.
