Honda Civic Type R 2015 BTCC
So we know the Honda Civic Type R is already the fastest front-wheel drive hatch around the Nurburgring and this must be taken as a good sign for the future as the company confirmed its participation in British Touring Car Championship.
Pictured here without any branding, the Civic Type R has begun its shakedown tests at Brands Hatch with Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden at the wheel. We’ll have to wait until the 24th of March before we see one in official livery.
Already the 2.0-litre engine has shown glimpses of its tuning potential. The team have worked the engine to 260kW with the same 400Nm. This is conservative, we’re sure there’s more to come. Greater downforce, less drag and more grip add that race flavour.
“This is a car that not just us, but the entire automotive industry has been waiting for,” said Neal. “We are as excited as anybody to start running the Civic Type R, which is a massive step forward from last year’s Tourer – from the engine to the handling and aerodynamics.”
