Jaguar has added a number of land speed records to their name. This news follows a successful bid with the F-Type Coupe R which set an official speed of 301km/h over the 4900m runway located at Upington airport. The Jaguar XF 2.2D (140kW/450Nm) managed a speed of 211km/h, securing itself a record in the decision for production cars with turbo or supercharged diesel engines between 2.0- and 2.5-litres in capacity. Joining the action was Jaguar’s XJ 3.0-litre V6 (202kW/600Nm) with a speed of 235km/h – a class record for production vehicles with turbo or supercharged diesel engines between 2.5- and 3.0-litres. Breaking the record for production vehicles with turbo or supercharged petrol engines between 2.5- and 3.0-litres was the Jaguar F-Type S convertible. With 280kW/460Nm it set a speed record of 262km/h (roof up) and then achieved 254km/h with the roof down.

“We are proud that we’ve been able to put the F-TYPE R’s stablemates on the board, to write records in their respective classes – and fly the Jaguar flag with even more pride,” said Mallett. “After all, racing is in Jaguar’s blood, and we cannot think of a better way to prove that statement.”
