We have an eager (and perhaps now fired) German dealer to thank for these official images of the new Jaguar F-Type SVR, well ahead of its planned launch later this year. Images and technical specs taken off a Jaguar brochure spread light on the test mules spotted in August 2015.
Believing that these technical specs are indeed accurate, the 2016 Jaguar F-Type SVR will be powered by the famous 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine and will use the same 8-speed gearbox and all-wheel drive system as the sensational Jaguar F-Type R AWD.
That said, to differentiate the models’ 0-100km/h time, the Jaguar F-Type SVR receives a slight increase in power from 404kW to 422kW and torque swells from 680Nm to 700Nm. Testing the grip of all-wheel drive, Jaguar SVR accelerates to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds and realises that 320km/h top speed.
Aerodynamic changes to the SVR include a bigger rear diffuser around the quad pipes and a rear wing which Jaguar says in conjunction with the front splitter reduces lift by 80%. Carbon ceramic brakes, aluminium wheels and titanium exhaust combine to reduce mass 43 kilograms.
F-Type SVR is also available as a convertible and pricing should start upwards of R1.3 million. We’ll have to see if it’s any better than the wild F Type.
