Peugeot 308 Facelift Revealed

Posted on 09 February 2011 by Scott

Peugeot has revealed a number of updates to its 308 range, the first major overhaul for the 308 since its launch in 2007.

The update brings an extensive styling update to the 308 Hatch, 308 CC convertible and 308 Touring wagon, along with updated powertrains and the addition of a new micro-hybrid e-HDi variant.

Up front, the 308 range gets Peugeot’s new and less cheerful face, first previewed by the sporting SR1 concept and the new 508 sedan. There are also new wheel designs across the range, and Peugeot’s updated lion emblem features prominently at the front and rear. Styling updates are less obvious in the cabin, limited to new colours and trim choices for seats and dash.

Full details for each variant and engine in the updated 308 line have yet to be revealed, although Peugeot claims it has improved fuel consumption through the use of low rolling-resistance tyres, revised engines and an average loss of 25 kilograms across the range.

As always, European customers will be spoilt for choice when it comes to engines and derivatives. Included in the range will be four petrol engines – 72 kW 1.4-litre VTi; 88 kW 1.6-litre VTi; 115 kW 1.6-litre THP; and a 147 kW 1.6-litre THP – as well as four diesels – 68 kW 1.6-litre HDi; 82 kW 1.6-litre e-HDi; 110 kW 2.0-litre HDI; and a 120 kW 2.0-litre HDi.

The new 308 range is set to get on sale in Europe after its unveiling at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.
