Bentley takes the upcoming Continental to the track

We thought that was all when we spotted Bentley’s Continental GT doing some cold-weather testing early this year but we were wrong; development of the next-gen Bentley Continental GT has moved to Nurburgring.

According to the engineers close to the project, the new model is a sleeker evolution of the current coupe. Copying some of its design cues from Bentley’s EXP 10 Speed 6 concept which won rave reviews at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the new model features a downward arch at the tip of the nose and swept back headlights. This one also wears big hunks of cladding around the fenders, which makes the arches appear bigger.

Some body modifications suggest that the coupe’s length might be extended. The rear bumper doesn’t look final either but we expect to see the oval tailpipes on the production version. The new Conti GT has a more svelte exterior appearance and the sporty attitude shows up under the skin.

Bentley wasn’t so clear to us in terms of what powers the coupe, but we hope it will include the 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine and the 6.0-litre biturbo W12.

We expect the new Continental GT coupe to arrive in the second half of 2017 with the already spied convertible likely to join the line-up in 2018.
