Lexus LC 500 is coming to South Africa

Four years after its first reveal as a concept car, the Lexus LC is finally ready for production and will be heading to South Africa, as well.

In Luxury guise, the Lexus LC 500 is a definite and clear indication of the design-language the Japanese brand wants to undertake. The LC 500 Luxury’s design is aggressive and styled to portray the performance orientated nature of the vehicle.

Lexus’ familiar chrome-bordered grille takes centre stage when viewing the LC 500 Luxury from the front and the fascia is finished off by a triple LED headlamp design. L-shaped daytime running lights will make sure that you spotted from afar. Bulging curves and vents on the sides add to the Lexus LC 500 Luxury’s athletic profile.

Lexus didn’t skimp on the rear of it’s new flagship model and added multi-layered tail lamps for distinctive identification. When pushing on the rear diffuser and active rear spoiler will manage airflow to maximise performance.

Inside, as Lexus puts it, the LC 500 Luxury boasts “an interior that is both seductive and engaging”. Front seats can provide comfort over long distances, while optional sports seats offer additional support during enthusiastic driving.

The LC 500 will boast Lexus’ Safety System +; a safety package that includes, amongst others, Pre-Collision System, Lane Keep Assist, Automatic High Beam, and All-Speed Active Cruise Control.

At the heart of the Lexus LC 500 is a throbbing 5,0-litre V8 engine that is good for 351 kW and 530 Nm of torque. This equates to a 0-100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds while the almost even weight split will handle the twisties.

To utilise the power to its full potential, Lexus designed an all-new rear-wheel drive platform for its new car, and its underpinnings will form the basis for future models.

The new Lexus LC 500 Luxury should reach South Africa either in the fourth quarter of 2016 or during the first quarter of 2017.
